About Us
Luxe Furniture & Design is locally owned by Don & Joy Ainsworth. After being discharged from the US Navy, Don has worked his entire working life in home furnishings. He began his career at a small locally owned store in Bay St. Louis and Picayune, Mississippi. He also spent 5 years at Rhodes' Furniture in Gulfport and 7 years in the furniture department at Gayfer's Department Store at Edgewater Mall. As a result of Gayfer's Department Store closing their furniture Dept in late 1987, we opened as the The Sofa Gallery in June 1988 at Edgewater Village. In 1992 we changed the name of our store to Norwalk The Furniture Idea and in 1998 we moved to our present location on Highway 49 in Gulfport. Due to a situation with Norwalk Furniture in 2008, (a sad result of the mortgage crisis) we changed our name to Luxe Furniture & Design. This name change included adding Harden Furniture as a secondary source of American-made furniture. Norwalk Furniture is and will always be our primary value source for great, upholstered furniture.
