James Mollison

When English photographer James Mollison was asked to come up with an idea to promote children's rights, he thought of his own childhood bedroom: how important it was to him, and how it reflected who he was. In 2011, after spending over three years traveling the world, he published a stunning photo book titled Where Children Sleep, in which he captured the differences between kids' lifestyles around the world.

While the book offers us a remarkable view on diversity of cultures, it was actually written and designed for 9 to 13 year olds to better understand the diversity and disparity among children in the world, and to help them appreciate the lifestyle that they have. "I hope the book gives a glimpse into the lives some children are living in very diverse situations around the world; a chance to reflect on the inequality that exists, and realize just how lucky most of us in the developed world are," Mollison says.
